convincingly arguing that âthe film, through its diversity in subject matter, largely avoids the exploitative sameness that is still expected from media representations of Latinx identity, where characters are one-dimensional stereotypes or otherwise exoticized caricatures.â I agree with Andrade because the âsubject matterâ of the musical dares to represent characters who have varying and conflicting aspirations and dreams, which in turn nuance what it even means to be Latinx. However, when we pay attention to the racialized experiences of the characters, it is obvious that Black extras and Black dancers are the ones who become the caricatures ofIn the Heights. runner 4.0 killings of unarmed citizens in 2015 alone, the incident was avoidable. The reactions from both police and civilians are what make this case different from so many other fatal police shootings, as Noor is a Muslim, Somali-American immigrant, and Justine Damond was white. runner 4.0 The most important thing is to have your songs and, ultimately, know what you like and what you don't like, because if you just keep at it, people will eventually see who you are.
