It’s funny to watch the original now and notice how many things would get a lot of pushback now. Even just to be watching a show that centers on the love lives of a handful of rich, white teenagers on the Upper East Side is now a controversial premise — not that it wasn’t always about that, but certainly, the cultural mood has shifted since then.
