“We were at [an event]. This woman approached us. She saw myself and two other survivors, one of whom was still walking with a cane and was still suffering from two gunshot wounds to the leg. She looked at the other two of us and said: ‘Wow, it must feel really special to be in the presence of such strength.’ She was referring to the physically injured survivor we were with. It felt really invalidating. In that moment, it felt like she was saying: ‘If you weren’t physically injured, you’re not strong.’ Recovering from physical injury was the only source of strength she saw. She was totally invalidating the fact that once he’s no longer using a cane, it won’t go away. He’ll still wake up from nightmares every night. He’s still going to be afraid to go to crowded spaces. He’s still going to relive that traumatic experience all the time.”Christopher adidas copa retro 12 Times Lisa of BLACKPINK Proved She Has the Best Bangs in the BusinessSelena Gomez'smuch-anticipated new album,Rare, adidas copa retro “I can’t speak for everyone. But for me, sometimes I wish that it wasn’t the center of my activism. I know a lot of people know me as the girl who survived Sandy Hook. A lot of what I do comes from my experience with that, but I don’t always want that to be the center of the conversation. I want the other things I’ve done to be the center of conversation.
