Black social media users are asking one simple question: why center light-skinned actors in a film about a predominantly Dominican neighborhood if the goal is to uplift oppositional narratives that often flatten Latinx characters to stereotypical tropes while also erasing Black, Indigenous and Asian diasporic subjects?
