Growing up, I always fantasized about running away from Oklahoma and going to college in Los Angeles or New York, where I could meet more people who were like me. But after the last few years, I’m glad I stayed. Living here is an uphill battle, but it’s my home and I don’t know where I’d be if I hadn’t found my community of rurally raised transgender people working to make each others’s lives better. Two years ago, I wasn’t even sure if I would ever meet another trans person. I felt so alone. Today, I have stumbled across love, family, and a sense of belonging I never thought I would find. We may live in a conservative state, but we represent Oklahoma too. Our stories also matter, and the communities we have built are worth celebrating.Want more fromTeen Vogue? I don't always write from my perspective. Sometimes a friend of mine or family member will be going through something and I'll write the song based on their perspective, and I'll write the song based on their perspective and whatever they're situation they're going through in life. So it's not always me, but I'd say a majority of the time it is about me.TV: nike kd trey 5 viii women's It's still totally unclear exactly what this music video will be, but I'm into it, I'm into it . . .
